We’re packing up and getting ready to move an hour away from Des Moines to a small town with a famous tulip festival. I’ve been a flurry of emotions since this house has seen so many milestones—and this town is where I found a life that suits me so very much.
My husband and I shared an engagement, planned a wedding, and enjoyed our wedding weekend in this house. We had successful gardens and canning endeavors. I enjoyed a lovely pregnancy and labored in the guest bedroom until it was time to go to the hospital. We got to know our little Linden throughout the house and the yard, and she’s found much to explore (and put into her mouth) within these walls. There has been much singing, reading, sewing, cooking, eating, crying, laughing, and living in this place and I will truly miss it.
Having said all of that, I greatly look forward to what’s ahead and I’m taking comfort in the knowledge that I’m taking two of my favorite people—the two that make my daily life, my daily life—with me. Life will continue and we’ll make the new house into our home in no time, I am sure of it.
